The Lamp for Africa and American Association for Men in Nursing will in few days lead Nigerian Men in Nursing and Midwifery to shut down Abuja the seat of power as they host the Maiden edition of Men in Nursing Conference come Nov 30th in the country.

The conference which is organized in partnership with the American Association  for Men in Nursing (AAMN), seeks to improve quality of care through the breaking of  stereotyping of male nurse/Midwives, improved acceptance, enhance satisfaction and increased productivity.

Jonas Nguh, PhD, MSN, FACHE, FNAP, NEA-BC, RN
Dr. Nguh’s is a global health scholar and practitioner. His scope of practice has been in maternal newborn and child health programs, immunization, family planning and reproductive health, nutrition, health systems strengthening, water/sanitation/hygiene, malaria, prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and pediatric HIV care and treatment in Sub-Sahran countries and low resource countries. low.
 
Dr. Nguh has taught and worked in more than 20 countries including; Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Senegal, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen and Zambia. Dr. Nguh is a distinguished faculty with professorships in six international universities.
 

He teaches primarily in Public Health and Nursing where he chairs doctoral students completing their PhD and Masters of Science in Nursing.
Dr. Nguh has served as program director for both Nursing and Public Health programs. Dr. Nguh holds a PhD in Public Health, a Master’s of Science in Nursing, a Master’s of Science in Healthcare Administration, and a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Dr. Nguh holds several certifications including Fellowship of the American College of Healthcare Executive, the National Academy of Practice, and is board certified as a Nurse Executive, Advanced by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Dr. Nguh is a six-time national award winner. He is the first and only male ever to have received the prestigious Lillian Wald Award from the National League of Nursing in 2015 for his work in community service and volunteerism.
In 2015, he was honored with the Outstanding Mentor Award from the Maryland Nurses Association and in 2012 was one of just six nurses nationally to receive the Nurse of the year Award from Nurse.com.
 
Dr. Nguh also was honored with the senior executive career award by the Maryland Association of Healthcare Executives in 2017, and in April of 2017, he was one of only 9 faculty members in the Laureate International University network which comprises of 80 universities in 28 countries to be honored with the “Here for Good” award that recognizes individual who are agents of global social change. Dr. Nguh sits on several healthcare boards including the regional chapter of Nurse.com, the Maryland Nurses Association, the American Association of Men in Nursing, and the American College of Healthcare Executives (National Capital Chapter). He is a peer reviewer for several editorial board including the International Journal of Complexity in Leadership and Management, the International Journal of Management in Education, the International Advisory Board for Nurse Education in Practice and the Journal of Transcultural Nursing
