|Admission to Postgraduate Nursing Courses at Nnamdi Azikiwe University for 2015/ by nemausername : July 23, 2015, 06:40:39 PM|
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for full-time or part-time admissions to the postgraduate courses offered by Nnamdi Azikiwe University for the 2015/2016 academic year.
POSTGRADUATE DEGREE AND DIPLOMA COURSES AVAILABLE.
Doctorate and Masters’ Degree and Postgraduate Diploma Programmes are available in the areas listed below
FACULTY: Health Sciences & Technology
DEPARTMENTS: Nursing Sciences (PGD, M.Sc, Ph.D)
2.1 POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
The following may apply for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programme:
2. 1.1. Graduates from approved University who hold first degree classification with a FCGPA of 2.50 and above on a 5point scale.
2.1.2. Candidates from approved Polytechnic, Monotechnics, who hold a Higher National Diploma with a minimum of Upper Credit.
2.2. MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMMES
The following may apply for admission into Masters Programmes: Graduates from approved Universities who hold the appropriate degree with minimum FCGPA of 3.00 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 60% for universities who do not use Final Cumulative Grade Point Average, in the proposed field of study.
Holders of Postgraduate Diploma from recognized institutions with an FCGPA of 3.50 and above (on a 5point scale).
DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMMES
Graduates from approved universities who hold Masters degree in the proposed field of study with minimum FCGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 60% for universities who do not use the Final Cumulative Grade Point Average.
MINIMUM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for all Postgraduate programmes must have a minimum of 5 credits including English Language and any four relevant subjects at one or two sittings based on the Departmental/Faculty and General University Requirements.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAMMES
4.1 Postgraduate Diploma Programme (PGD)The full time Postgraduate Diploma programme lasts for a minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of three (3) semesters. Part time programme shall last for a minimum of four (4) semesters anda maximum of Six (6) semesters
Masters Degree Programmes
The Masters Degree programmes last for a minimum of three (3) semesters for full-time and a maximum of six (6) semesters. Part-Time programme shall last for a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of Eight (8) semesters
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme
Full-Time PhD programmes will be last for a minimum of six (6) semesters for full-time and a maximum of Ten (10) semesters. Part-Time programme shall last fora minimum of Eight (8) semesters and a maximum of Fourteen (14) semesters
METHOD OF APPLICATION
5.1 Application form should be completed on-line by logging onto www.my.unizik.edu.ng/postgraduate on payment of Ten thousand naira only in any of the branches of the following banks:
Applicants are advised to obtain information on Departmental requirements and areas of specialization from the website www.unizik.edu.ng/postgraduate
5.2 Fill and submit online the completed Application Form, scanning and attaching the claimed certificates, including O’level certificates, evidence of change of name, birth certificate, teller and confirmation order from the bank of purchase.
5.3 Print the completed Application Form for your personal use. You will require this document in the course of the admission and registration.
5.4 Download and print a copy of the Transcript Request Form. The Transcript Request Form form should be sent to your former Institution for your academic transcripts. Any change of name should be indicated in the transcript form.
5.5 Applicants should include the names and e-mail addresses of three Referees. At least two of the referees must be Academics not lower than the rank of a Senior Lecturer.
5.6 Ph.D. applicants are expected to submit online a proposal of not more than five-type written pages that should include:
a. Topic (not more than 18 words)
b. Brief background of the Study
c.Aims and Objectives/Purpose
e. Expected Outcomes
5.7 Transcripts should be forwarded to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies not later than 7th September, 2015.
5.8 Qualified Applicants will be invited for screening test on 16th September, 2015
5.9 PhD Applicants shall also undertake oral defence on their written proposal on 17th September, 2015
N.B Any person who will still be on National Service on 1st October, 2015 need not apply.

M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes with specialization in:
Maternal and Child Health
Mental Health and Psychiatric
Community Health Nursing
O’ Level Requirement
Five o’ Level credit in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Higher Qualification Requirement:
RN with a minimum of 2 years postqualification.Posses degree in biological sciences in a recognized University
B.Sc in Nursing with FCGPA of not less than Second Clsss Upper division B.NSc with FCGPA of not less than 3.0
M.Sc. ≥ 3.50 in Nursing Science
