Rules and Regulations Guiding General Conduct of Students
Candidates who gain admission into this institution are essentially bonded by a set of rules and regulations which are formulated in line with the provision by these supervisory organs of government.The following rules and regulations are therefore adopted in good faith in order to facilitate the smooth running of the school.
School/Clinical Time Schedule
The official time for the commencement of lectures in the school is from 8:00am to 2:30pm daily, Mondays to Fridays and students are entitled to 30 minutes break. Official time for commencement of duty for clinical posting is
- Morning duty 7.30am to 2.00pm
- Afternoon duty 1.30pm to 8.00pm
- Night duty 7.30pm to 8.00am
Hostel Rules and Regulations
i. Male and female students are entitled to hostel accommodation on the basis of first come first served after due payment of stipulated hostel fee. Hostel accommodation is optional.
ii. Students shall have access to the available facilities in the hostel and those in the school within the official hours.
iii. Students shall pay accommodation fees as approved by the management in their fees schedule not later than one month after admission.
iv. Visitors are received in the hostel between 4.00pm and 6.00pm through the security post. No visitor shall go beyond the common room. Penalty for offenders is outright ejection from the hostel.
v. No student is permitted to squat or illegally accommodate any other person in the hostel. Penalty for offenders is outright ejection from the hostel.
vi. All students staying in the hostel are expected to take active part in keeping the hostel and its environment clean.
vii. No hard papers/pad should be used in the toilet. Offenders shall pay for the cost of opening the blockage.
viii. Use of heater (electric coil) is seriously prohibited in the hostel. Such appliances shall be ceased by the school authority and if there is any damage caused by the appliance, the offender shall pay for the damage.
ix. No students shall be allowed into the hostel after 9.00pm
x. Any student involved in stealing, sexual abuse and sexual harassment, quarrelling and fighting in the hostel, smoking and drunkenness shall be treated as provided for in the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Disciplinary Measure for Professional Offences (see appendix III attached)
xi. No student is permitted to monopolize the use of any facility that is meant for use by all students. Penalty for offenders is outright ejection from the hostel.
xii. No student shall be found in the hostel during class period.
Recreational facilities are available in the school such as football, table tennis etc. student are expected to take active part in recreational activities and games of their choice. Students are not allowed to use time assigned for classroom lecture and clinical experiences for recreational activities.
Pregnancy while Training
For the avoidance of doubt, the Council has directed in her circular that any student who is pregnant while in school shall continue her training, provided she has not been absent from training for more than twenty eight (28) days. Any pregnant student who is absent from training for more than 28 days shall be demoted for a period of six (6) months. (See Appendix IV attached).
Drunkenness and Smoking
Any student found to be involved in drunkenness; smoking and any form of misconduct shall be made to face the Professional and Disciplinary Committee (See Appendix III attached).
Cultism Student Demonstration
Cultism is forbidden. Any student caught will be summarily dismissed and handed over to the police by the management. Students are not allowed to take part in strike actions nor carry out demonstrations. All grievances, problems and misunderstanding should be channeled through the Class Coordinator to the Coordinator for resolution. If the solution is not within the control of the Coordinator, such would be routed to the FHNE management.
Medical Service/Medical and Sick Report
A student who is sick must report to the nurse at the sickbay before seeing a doctor at the staff clinic. The school will not accept any sick report issued outside the hospital. In the case where the student is sick while on permission outside the school, sick report issued only by a government health facility will be acceptable.
Religious activities in the School
All students are entitled to belong to any religious organization of their choice for the purpose of their spiritual development.
