Oncology nursing is an emerging nursing specialty. Oncology Nurses provide care for cancer patients and those at risk of getting the disease. They monitor physical conditions and administer chemotherapy and other treatments.It is one of the most challenging and rewarding fields in nursing and no two days on the job are ever the same according to an article on Johnson Johnson.
In Nigeria, the rising incidence of cancer among Nigerians have necessitated the need for oncology nurses. As at the time of typing this,oncology nursing exist only in National Hospital Abuja as a diploma course for registered nurses.
The form cost #5,000; usually out in May/June and minimum requirements are; Registered Nurse and 5 O level credit pass in physics,chemistry,biology and English and mathematics.
The tuition fees is quite high according to unconfirmed source but there are external funding to assist you. Wow! Never thought we could have this in Nigeria in the next decade before lol. Please is it accredited by the nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria? Do they do council exam? Please I need those info ASAP.

Oncology nursing is accredited by NMCN and its a one year course. They also write council exam.
Thanks Ayomiposi, perhaps you know more about the course(or you know someone that does) can you please drop such information? Like:
-Number of people admitted per year
-Entrance exam mode and selection criteria
-Accommodation and other things worthy of note.
@ others, as at last year we only have it in National Hospital Abuja, form is #5,000 and requirements are : RN plus 5 O level credit in English, Mathematics, physics, Chemistry and biology.

yes post basic oncology school exist in the national hospital ABUJA
It Is a 12 months calendar programme.
Accomodates 20 - 25 students from the six goepolitical zones of nigeria .
Selection is by merit after a written examination .
application form are already on sales .
written examination comes up first monday of AUGUST 2016.
TUITION fee is 300,000 thousand naira,accomodation fee is 200,000 naira.
Accreditation process with NMCN is onging.
