Kenya: MCA on the spot for assaulting nurse by Idowu Olabode : September 29, 2016, 09:38:04 PM
A Kisii County legislator is on the spot for assaulting a night nurse at Oresi Health Center.

The nurse, Ms Beatrice Omutiti, was allegedly taking care of another patient when the  MCA stormed into the facility with a pregnant woman and demanded for expedited service.

Omutiti said the MCA slapped her twice and called her names, saying she was slow in discharging her duties.

“When I opened the door for them he started abusing me, as I asked for the clinic book to record the referral. When I started writing he slapped me again and I had to rush outside because I was in pain,” Omutiti narrated.

Kenya Union of Nurses Kisii County official, Frederick Oigo, said the act was degrading to their profession. He called for quick action on the matter, saying the county government should ensure that justice is served on behalf of the family.

Mr Oigo went further to say that night duty services should be suspended until security is provided for the nurses.

The County government is yet to respond to the assault allegations.
