Kenya: Accept 40% and Call off your Strike Nurses tell Doctors by Idowu Olabode : January 08, 2017, 06:36:35 PM
The Nurses Union has called on the striking doctors to resume work in order to salvage the health sector.

Secretary General Seth Panyako has now called on the doctors to accept the deal offered by President Uhuru, where the doctors pay will be raised by 40%.

"I want to categorically urge our doctor friends kindly hear the cry of Kenyan people. The have suffered enough. Go back to the table and accept whatever you will be offered. Let us all live to fight another day," he said.

Panyako speaking on Saturday urged the doctors to emulate nurses and resume work.

"Many families are crying, others have lost their loved ones because their was no doctor to attend to them, let them heed to the call of duty and someday their woes will be resolved," he said.

The doctors have been striking for the past 36 days with no resolution to resume work.

The medics have maintained that the government should implement a CBA signed in 2013.
