A HUGE opportunity has come for registered nurses of Misamis Oriental, as Japan is looking to employ 1,000 nurses from the province, Governor Yevgeny Emano said.

Emano said the Cooperative Union JNS of Japan last Saturday, April 7, expressed an interest in employing 1,000 licensed nurses from Misamis Oriental who have passed the N4 level of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test.

Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), under joint organization of the Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services, is a test to measure and certify the Japanese-language proficiency of those whose native language is not Nihongo or Japanese.

JLPT has five levels: N1, N2, N3, N4, and N5; wherein the easiest level is N5 and the most difficult level is N1.

According to the JLPT website,, N4 and N5 measure the level of understanding of basic Japanese mainly learned in class. N1 and N2 measure the level of understanding of Japanese used in a broad range of scenes in actual everyday life. N3 is a bridging level between N1/N2 and N4/N5.

Provincial Information Officer Nicole Managabang said the first 100 nurses to apply will be sent to Japan via working visa and will be trained for Japanese proficiency test provided by the Provincial Government.
"First 100 nurses na maka avail nyan, na mare-register sa Peso (Public Employment and Services Office), (The first 100 nurses registered by Peso) can avail of the N4 na subject," Managbanag said.

The provincial officer added that the rest of the 900 registered nurses will have to be N4 level passers first before being employed and sent to Japan.

Emano also mentioned that the 1,000 nurses who will be working in Japan will each receive a salary of P80,000 per month.
